The growing trend of MBA in 2013 and 2014



An MBA, in today’s era, is a sure shot roadmap to success. Management degrees have earned immense prominence in the recent years owing to the changing trends in hiring of MBA graduates globally. A number of business firms have expanded their operations and extended to the global level over the past decade, thus leading to a huge demand for management degree holders. With a view to assess the demand and trends of MBA graduates in the business market, the QS Intelligence Unit has surveyed over 4300 MBA employees. The key findings of the survey reveal the following.

Growth in MBA hiring globally

The survey has revealed a growth in the number of MBA graduates hired by multinational companies globally. The year 2013 witnessed a 14 percent rise in the number of MBA hirings. Also, Asia is the most dynamic market for MBA, China and India being the major players in hiring. The year 2013 has seen a growth rate of 20 percent across the continent. The year 2014 is further forecasted to see an elevated percentage of MBA hiring, with recruitment of candidates who have achieved their degrees through full-time as well as online education mode.

MBA in demand

The key findings of the survey also reveal that MBA was one of the most demanded career qualification by employers as well as by business aspirants in 2013. Some of the fastest growing MBA sectors (specializations) include Finance, Consulting, General Industry and Technology. The other specializations are growing at a gradual rate.

With the growing demand for MBA graduates in business firms, campus placements were also on a high in 2013. Leading universities and B-Schools have also reported placements even before students completed their programs.

Compensation

The compensation for MBA graduates too has increased over the last year. With the MBA in demand, top firms have reportedly offered handsome pay packages to MBA graduates at various levels. The compensation, however, is subject to specialization opted, job role, size of the organization, geographic location, national or international level, etc.
